The Leading Lights Project (2017-2018)
The Leading Lights Project received support from Redwood Coast Energy Authority's (Eureka, CA) Redwood Coast Energy Watch Partnership Programs (Subcontract award, $17,770). The Krause Family Foundation implemented a pilot project (2017-2018). The project provided various opportunities for artists at the Humboldt Community Access and Resource (HCAR) Center's Studio and high school students at the Academy of the Redwoods (Eureka, CA) to learn more about energy education. The project also promoted the arts, technology, and narrative skills necessary to complete a project illustrating essential ways to "Save Energy Today and Save Energy Tomorrow." A community exhibition ensured that participants' final projects benefited from the authentic audience and real-world distribution. The project provided community service experience and increased exposure to careers and career pathways in the energy field.
