Sustainable Agriculture and Culinary Arts Education, Honolulu, HI (2015 - present)
The Krause Family Foundation (KFF) partners with Aloun Farms to support underserved, public culinary arts programs in Honolulu and to educate the community about sustainable agriculture. Each year, Aloun Farms and KFF host The Annual Sweet Onion Culinary Competition and Mahi'ai Gala, at which teams of culinary arts high school and community college students compete to demonstrate their skills utilizing local produce. Local chefs judge the event and also mentor the students. Each year, a total of $60,000 is distributed among the 8-10 eligible schools.
