Harriet's Hale is a new kind of gallery and art space to promote underserved, rising artists, and advance Hawaii's non-traditional arts communities. The program activity serves those who aspire to: Gain practical experiences that increase their viability and success in pursuing postsecondary and continuing educational goals,Obtain well-paid and satisfying employment, andDevelop their capacities to achieve personal successes beyond minimal expectationsThe historic Andrews Estate in Manoa Valley, built in 1913, was home to Dr. Arthur and Harriet Andrews, who were active in almost every facet of education and civic life. Named in honor of Mrs. Andrews, Harriet's Hale will accommodate gallery space in the former living room for regular themed, juried exhibitions, as well as educational workshops and gatherings in adjacent areas. Harriet's Hale artists, with access to a public audience, and the support of their families and friends, can potentially impact and educate the community about the importance of art relative to a vibrant, thriving society.
